MILAN TO APPEAL AGAINST 'UNFAIR' DIDA BAN

MILAN have slammed the decision to ban Brazilian goalkeeper Dida for a year for holding a fake EU passport.

The Rossoneri have stated that they will appeal against the ban on the grounds that they immediately withdrew EU status for Dida when they realised there may be a problem, and that they therefore did not benefit from the problem.

"The only response that I can give with respect to this decision is that it is harsh," said lawyer Leandro Cantamessa. "We will appeal.

"I don't believe it is wise to say any more."

Dida's passport problems came to light when Milan faced Leeds United in the Champions League, and the authorities found irregularities with the goalkeeper's documents.
