RUI COSTA: "LAST WORD IS MINE"

RUI COSTA has insisted that he will not be pressured into making a decision as to which club he moves to, after holding talks with officials of both Parma and Real Madrid.

Fiorentina appear to have accepted that they will lose their star man, but are keen to offload him to Parma - who have offered a massive deal if they can convince Francesco Toldo to follow Rui Costa to the Gialloblu.

With Real Madrid convinced they will land the Portuguese star and team him up with  international team-mate Luis Figo, the player is still making a final decision and will not be rushed.

"The last word will be mine," insisted the 29-year-old midfielder.

"Fiorentina and Parma are putting pressure to accept that I will wear the sweater of the Gialloblu, but it is my career, my life, and I want to decide with calm and not rush a decision.

"For Fiorentina, Parma is the ideal solution, because by surrendering me and Toldo, [Viola president] Cecchi Gori would resolve many economic problems."

Rui Costa has already stated that he would love to play at Real, but insists that money is not his main motivation.

"The offers on the table are very similar," stated Rui Costa. "I want to choose well for my career not for my wallet. I want to win things.

"I need to appraise thing with calm. Everything has caught me by surprise and I have to reflect before deciding, but the last word is certainly mine."
