SILKMEN LAND DEFENDER

MACCLESFIELD have completed the signing of Wrexham defender David Ridler, snuffing out a rival bid from Carlisle United in the process.

The 26-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal with The Silkmen, has previously spent his entire career at the Racecourse Ground after joining them in 1995.

"We've been looking for a steady defender for a while and I'm pretty sure that David fits the bill. He's got a good reputation and I've been given good reports about him from the people who've worked with him," said manager Gil Prescott to the club's official site.

"He's quite a big lad, a little over six foot and really good in the air. He has a lot of pace for someone his size, which is something we've been lacking at the back in recent seasons."
