VIDUKA - I COULD HAVE JOINED MILAN
Viduka signed a new five-year deal with The Whites this week and believes that before this has expired the young team David O'Leary has built at Elland Road can win Europe's most prestigious title.
"I said all along that it was not about money but about personal ambition and wanting success," Viduka said. "I believe Leeds can give me all that and that is the reason I have stayed.
"I could have gone abroad if I had wanted and played for a massive club like AC Milan.
"Leeds have given me some stability in my life and have also provided a platform to win medals. I honestly think we can win the championship this season.
"That is why I am still here and within the five years of my contract I feel we can win the Champions' League, too. We are a young side who will get better and better and maybe you don't have to go to Italy or Spain to get success."
The West Yorkshire side will need to wait until the 2002/2003 campaign at the earliest before renewing their surge for the Champions League, as their fourth place finish last season only earned them a spot in the Uefa Cup.
