ZIDANE COMPLETES £42M REAL SWITCH
The Juventus midfielder has completed the formalities of his £42 million transfer, and was presented by Real legend Alberto di Stefano to eager fans and press.
The French international had earlier confirmed on his website that everything had been agreed, saying: "I can confirm that I will be playing in the colours of Real Madrid next season."
Zidane successfully completed his medical at the Clinica Ruber and then travelled to meet sports director Jorge Valdano.
Real were quick to prepare for next season, as a lorry load of Zidane shirts with the number five arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Zidane is expected to earn £3.6 million per season in a four-year deal.
The 29-year-old is expected to try and exert his authority on the Real hierarchy by urging them to make a move for Arsenal`s unsettled star Patrick Vieira.
Zidane has been hugely impressed by his international colleague`s efforts in the centre of the park, and sees him as an ideal central midfield partner.
Ivan Helguera currently occupies the role that Zidane wants Vieira to fill, and it would be a fearsome squad that would be at the disposal of Vicente Del Bosque should they sign the Highbury hero.
Money appears to be no object to Real, and if Vieira is determined to leave then Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may sell to a team outside of England.
Arsenal have consistently stated that Vieira is not for sale, but Juve did likewise with Zidane and that did not dissuade Real from claiming their man.
