BARCA IN UNLIKELY EWERTHON SWAP SWOOP

BARCELONA are reported to be in the hunt for Brazil's new scoring sensation Ewerthon, who will then sensationally be sold on to Arsenal with Silvinho going in the opposite direction.

The deal seems unlikely to go through but reports in South America and Spain claim that the Catalans are mulling over such a deal.

Ewerthon has forced his way into the Brazilian side, although why The Gunners need another striker is a matter for some debate.

Barca, meanwhile, have already claimed that Silvinho does not interest them, although the upcoming transfer of Boudewijn Zenden would appear to free a berth on the left-side of midfield.

However, as Silvinho would require a work permit to play in Spain, Barca's interest in him was believed to have faded.

Ewerthon currently plays for Corinthians, although he is currently with the Brazilian squad in Colombia, who slumped to yet another defeat in the Copa America on Thursday, losing 1-0 against Mexico.

The 20-year-old is believed to be worth around £8.5 million, and is on the wanted-list of several Spanish and Italian teams.
