NEDVED COMPLETES JUVE SWITCH

PAVEL NEDVED completed his £25 million transfer to Juventus on Thursday stating that he had joined the Bianconeri because he felt they could challenge with Europe's elite - unlike his former club Lazio.

The 28-year-old Czech midfielder has ended a five-year association with the Rome giants and left on the same day as Juan Sebastian Veron completed a £28.1 million switch to Manchester United.

"It was a simple decision because the club talked to me about their project and they have the desire to win, just like me," Nedved said.

"I don't know if Lazio wanted to keep me or not, but in Rome I no longer felt the belief that was there before and I looked for something new to motivate me.

"I want to win the scudetto and the Champions League and I feel that is possible here, the club have big plans.

"I am sure we can get back to the top because we have something more than the others although we need to show that on the field.

"On the international stage we have no need to envy clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United."
