DERBY LOOK FOR DOUBLE ITALIAN JOB
DERBY COUNTY look set to seal their first signings of the close-season with the purchase of Italians Riccardo Maspero and Fabrizio Ravanelli.
Torino midfielder Maspero is to fly into England this weekend to discuss terms with manager JIm Smith, after the Serie A side accepted a nominal bid for the 31-year-old.
Maspero has spent all of his career in Italy with Cremonese, Lecce, Perugia, Reggiana and Vicenza, but will not get his first taste of foreign football at Pride Park.
The prolonged Ravanelli saga could also be concluded soon, after the 'White Feather' seemingly agreed to just a one-year deal and both players should be unveiled by Derby next week.
Meanwhile, defender Paul Boertien has signed a new four-year contract with The Rams.
The 22-year-old broke into the first team squad last season and had just one year left on his current deal.
