FERGIE - SOL DIDN'T WANT UNITED MOVE

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Arsenal new boy Sol Campbell was not interested in a move to Old Trafford.

Speculation during the season had suggested that Campbell would join The Red Devils but the champions were not in the running for the signature of the Tottenham stopper during the summer.

Arsenal eventually succeeded in luring the England international to Highbury, leaving Ferguson to rue a failed bid for Parma's Lilian Thuram, who joined Juventus instead.

"Sol just didn't show any interest in coming to Manchester," he told the official United website.

"He wanted to stay in London, I think."

Meanwhile, a move for Liberty Professionals youngster Sulley Muntari appears to have stalled after the African club demanded a £150,000 fee for the 17-year-old.

One starlet already on United's books, Bojan Djordjic, continues to be the subject of a growing debate in Sweden after threatening to play his international football for Yugoslavia instead.

"It is possible that the Under-21 national team has too little money to spend," stated SFF chairman Lars-Ake Lagrell.

Coach Goran Goransson is concerned at players plying their trade abroad.

"This is a problem we must solve," he declared in the Swedish press. "To be able to select the best players, I have to see them with my own eyes."
