McCANN SIGNS NEW GERS DEAL
The former Hearts and Dundee ace becomes the second Gers player to pledge his future to the club following Craig Moore's decision to sign a new deal earlier this month.
The 26-year-old ace suffered with injuries last season, but the skilful winger is set to play a major part in Ranger's quest for honours next term according to Gers boss Dick Advocaat.
"A player like Neil McCann has shown in the past what he can bring for us and hopefully he can do that for the next four years as well," said Advocaat.
"He is a good player and with his pace he can still damage a lot of defenders. In football, pace is very important."
Rangers chairman admitted he was delighted to tie down the Scottish international to a new long-term deal and that he was working on getting other players to pledge their futures to the club.
"Neil has extended his contract and we are delighted with that," Murray told the club's official website. "We want to tie down the nucleus of our squad and Neil is obviously part of our plans.
"We don't want to find ourselves in a position where we have a number of players in situations where they are on freedom of contract so it is important to tie players down.
"Equally, we have to give something back to the players so that's why we have done the deals with Craig and Neil. In turn we would hope that the loyalty we have shown will be reciprocated and I'm sure it will.
"We are also working on other deals and hopefully we will be in a position to make some announcements soon."
One player who is set to have talks with the Rangers management team over a new deal is Lorenzo Amoruso who had looked to be on his way out of Ibrox at the end of last season.
The Italian defender has one-year to run on his current deal and Advocaat is keen to tie him down to a longer deal after he returned to club for pre-season training when he failed to find himself a new club.
