FORINTON LISTED BY POSH

FOLLOWING a season blighted by injury, Peterborough United have decided to place striker Howard Forinton on the transfer list.

The 25-year-old striker was restricted to just five league starts last season after joining The Posh from Birmingham City for £275,000 in September 1999.

United boss Barry Fry outlined the reasons behind the decision to let Forinton go, telling the club's official website: "Howard is very frustrated here at London Road after last season turned into an absolute disaster because of injuries.

"He started with a double hernia operation and then had a cracked bone in his ankle for three and a half months to follow a run of previous injuries since he has been here.

"There's no doubt Howard has been unlucky with injuries but while he has been with us the squad has increased in size and he now feels his chances of getting back to how he was when first coming from Birmingham City in 1999, and scoring seven goals in 12 games, are diminished.

"Unfortunately he has not been able to recapture that early form and the opportunity of a fresh start could be just what he needs."
