RIVALDO BLASTS BARCA BOARD

SAMBA star Rivaldo has expressed his disappointment with several members of the Barcelona board, accusing them of breaking contractual promises.

The Brazilian international claims the club promised him an improved contract last summer which has so far yet to materialise.

Rivaldo revealed his anger at the Catalan giants on his official website and indicated that he would not allow things to continue until everything is sorted out.

The 29-year-old faxed a letter on July 10 to Barca president Joan Gaspart explaining his grievances and told him that a solution to the problem must be found or he will assume that the club want to sell him.

Speaking on his website, Rivaldo said: "Earlier in the year it was revealed with great extravagance that I had a salary increase. What they forgot to reveal with the same noise is that after a year I still have not received this increase.

"I've sent a fax to Joan Gaspart explaining the situation and warning that if in ten days he does not find a solution I will consider that the club doesn't need me next season and they want to sell me like they told me before the game against Valencia."

Rivaldo, currently in Brazil, will return to Spain on July 29 and has already called for a press conference in which he will tell the media about the "untenable" situation he is in.
