ZIDANE MAY SUE OVER DRUGS SLUR
Ferrari is set to stand trial in September for supplying illegal growth supplements, and a midweek edition of the paper indicated that Zidane had been implicated as part of the pretrial evidence.
Erwan Mantheour allegedly named Zidane, but the French cyclist later denied implicating his fellow countryman.
And on Sunday, Zidane went on the offensive, saying: "I've never seen this doctor Ferrari in my life, nor the cyclist Erwan Mantheour. And above all I've never visited Bologna other than to play with Juve.
"All this is just gross stupidity. On Monday, I'll be lodging a complaint for slander against the newspaper which printed this and anyone who talks about," he told L`Equipe.
"The most difficult thing to deal with is to see my name dragged around at will.
"Maybe some people want to gain publicity by using my name. That isn't serious. What's important is that these assertions are clarified and that they are formally denied."
Ferrari, who has a close association with Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong, has been investigated for his work with EPO.
Cycling ace Armstrong had to defend himself during this year`s tour, and insisted under a bombardment of questions that Ferrari was 'one of the most honest men in sport'.
