COWE HANDED CHANCE TO IMPRESS
Cotterill has given up hope of Naylor moving to The Robins after the pint-sized frontman stalled over their contract offer, and Cotterill moved quickly to hand Cowe the opportunity to stake a claim for a permanent deal at Whaddon Road.
The Robins boss has made no secret of his desire to land a '20-goal-a-season man' and Cowe's dad, Andy, a former Cheltenham player, believes his son is the answer to Cotterill's problems.
"He may not have scored that many goals but his rate of assists was high," said Cowe senior.
"You have to remember that he was playing up with players like Peter Thorne, Wayne Allison, Kevin Horlock and Iffy Onoura.
"If you're asking whether he could score 20 goals in the third division, I'd say yes, he could."
Cowe was handed a free transfer from Swindon in the summer after netting a paltry 13 goals in 102 games for the Wiltshire side.
He has spent some of the summer on-trial at Blackpool, who are managed by his former mentor at Swindon, Steve McMahon, but a move to Cheltenham would be ideal for Cowe, who is still based in the West Country.
