ELBER: "PEOPLE SHOULD NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM US"

BAYERN MUNICH striker Giovane Elber has warned people not to put unrealistic expectation on the team after the Bundesliga and European victors crashed to a 1-0 opening day defeat at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Bayern fans have become accustomed to domestic success in recent seasons and the Munich outfit are favourites to seal the Bundesliga crown at a canter, despite the heavy summer spending of Borussia Dortmund.

However, Brazilian international Elber believes the side require time to recapture the form that helped them to conquer at home and abroad last season.

"Everybody thinks Bayern have a fabulous team and we will stroll through the Bundesliga from the first game to the last. Unfortunately, it's just not true. The whole team is not on form now.

"People shouldn't expect too much from us," stated the 29-year-old.
