GRAYSON WANTS PNE SWITCH

SIMON GRAYSON has stated his intention to leave Blackburn Rovers, and admitted that he would love the chance to sign for long-term suitors Preston North End.

The veteran defender admitted that it had been made clear to him that he was surplus to requirements at newly promoted Rovers, and issued a firm come-and-get-me plea to Preston boss David Moyes.

"The manager has made a decision that he doesn't want me in his plans and I've accepted that," said Grayson.

"Preston were keen to sign me last season so my agent has spoken to them again in the past few days and they are definitely interested.

"They are looking for defensive cover right now and I am available. I'm talking to several clubs but I'd jump at the chance to sign for Preston.

"They play a nice brand of football and I'm sure I could do a job there for David Moyes.

"It remains to be seen whether anything else will happen this week but there is definite interest from Preston."
