HARTSON AGREES MOVE TO CELTIC

CELTIC have completed the signing of John Hartson from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £7 million subject to him passing a medical.

The Welsh international striker will undergo a stringent medical on Thursday after agreeing personal terms with the Scottish champions on Wedneday afternoon.

The move completes a quick swoop by Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill, who was keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the Champions League signing deadline on Thursday.

Hartson could be the first of a triple swoop by The Bhoys as they bolster the squad with the club also linked with moves for Hartson's Sky Blues team-mate Magnus Hedman and St Johnstone's Momo Sylla.

Coventry had hinted that they would be prepared to sell the powerful forward if they received a bid of £7 million and the player himself has indicated that he would like to leave to play at a higher level than the First Division.

Hartson's departure from Highfield Road could see the Sky Blues step up their interest in West Brom's Lee Hughes, who has been put up for sale at The Hawthorns.

The former West Ham United and Arsenal striker saw a move to Celtic's Old Firm rivals Rangers last season and now he will be given the chance to prove the Ibrox side wrong by helping them to success this season
