SPURS LAND KELLER

UNITED STATES international goalkeeper Kasey Keller is set to join Tottenham Hotspur from Rayo Vallecano, subject to him passing a medical.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper, who is available on a Bosman from Vallecano, has agreed terms with Spurs and he is poised to sign a three-year deal on Tuesday when Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle returns from the club's pre-season trip to Greece.

The former Millwall and Leicester City ace was close to a move to Turkish outfit Besiktas, but Spurs made a last-minute move to tempt Keller to move to North London.

London rivals Charlton Athletic were also linked with a move for the American but, after talks with Hoddle, Keller has decided to return to The Premiership with Spurs.

Hoddle turned his attentions to Keller after failing in moves for Everton shot-stopper Thomas Myhre and Blackburn Rovers ace Alan Kelly.

The White Hart Lane supremo is keen to bring in an experienced shot-stopper to fight for a first-team place with Neil Sullivan, having lost Ian Walker to Leicester City.

Keller is set to become the fifth major arrival of the summer at White Hart Lane following the signings of Teddy Sheringham, Gustavo Poyet, Christian Ziege and Goran Bunjevcevic.
