DESAILLY REVEALS ROMA DESIRE

NEW Chelsea captain Marcel Desailly has admitted that he would be tempted by a move to AS Roma.

The French international skipper, who joined Chelsea from Milan in 1998, has been linked with a return to Serie A with the Italian champions.

Giallorossi coach Fabio Capello is a big fan of the powerful defender having brought him to Milan from Marseille, and he would like to bring him to the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma had recently suggested that they would not be moving for Desailly as he was too old and too expensive, but a broken leg to new signing Saliou Lassissi may mean that they are forced into the transfer market to strengthen the defence.

The Italians have been linked with Parma's Fabio Cannavaro, but Desailly's comments may propel Capello to make a new move for the World Cup and European Championship winner.

Desailly holds Capello in high regard and he revealed he would like to join up again with the Italian coach.

"I wanted to make an announcement regarding the rumours that Capello and Roma are interested in me," Desailly told his own official website.

"All I can say is that I am astonished by this news and I am, at the same time, proud that it comes from Capello, whom I consider my spiritual father."

"Roma is a beautiful city, and my wife and I plan to come over soon. There are currently a number of transfers being negotiated, and the transfer market is always open."

Roma have been linked with a number of new defenders including Parma's Fabio Cannavaro, but Desailly's comments may propel Capello to make a new move for the Blues ace.
