CRESPO CRITICISES ITALIAN FOOTBALL

HERNAN CRESPO has warned Italian football that it can expect yet-more big name exits if it continues down its current path.

The brilliant Argentine was top-scorer in Serie A last season after a move to Lazio from Parma, but admits that he is far from shocked by the decisions of Juan Sebastian Veron and Zinedine Zidane to leave Italy.

"The Italians have to understand that they have taken a wrong turn," said Crespo. "They cannot be astonished that Veron and Zidane have left.

"To only concentrate on the result is useless. It's enough to look at the past two seasons where Italian teams have failed in Europe.

"In 1996 I decided to be part of the best football league in the world and I succeeded.

"I don't envy anyone but the Italians have to understand that football is not only about results. I like to win too but most of all I like to play attacking football."
