FIGO ADMITS TO PORTUGUESE PULL

LUIS FIGO has revealed that he naturally wants to return to play in Portugal one day, only weeks after stating that The Premiership was a league he wanted to try out.

Having spent six years in La Liga, with Barcelona and now Real Madrid, Figo stated it was to be expected that at some stage in his career he wants to return to Portugal, but he was not going any time soon.

"I am not moving," said Figo, who confirmed that he had many years left on his contract, but was unsure if he would see them out.

"I have been in Spain six years and I would like to return to my country.  Here in Madrid and Spain I am very happy.  What I am not going to confirm is that I am not going to fulfill my contract, because immediately controversy rises," added Figo.

Speaking about Real's poor pre-season, Figo said: "We are neither the best team in the world, nor are we the worst.  Now we are all working towards the season, we are not preparing for another friendly."

Figo added that the loss of Roberto Carlos for some of the pre-season has been a big loss, but the team was preparing well for the Spanish Supercopa against Real Zaragoza.

Last month, Figo admitted to a desire to try out the passion of the English game.
