JONES WANTS OUT - MORE IN'S AT PLAINMOOR
Jones arrived in South Devon in a loan deal from Sheffield Wednesday in the year 2000, but The Gulls paid £30,000 to make the move permanent after he kept three clean sheets during his three-match loan spell.
The 23-year-old faced a tough task in winning over the Plainmoor faithful as he succeeded the popular Neville Southall between the sticks, but a sensational save in a derby clash with Exeter on his home debut soon endeared him to the Torquay fans.
He was hailed by former Gulls boss Wes Saunders as 'the best keeper in the division,' but lost his first team place to Ryan Northmore last season.
However, he was recalled for the infamous do-or-die clash with Barnet on the final day of the 2000/01 campaign, and his penalty save from Darren Currie helped The Gulls preserve their league status, whilst the North London side lost theirs.
Meanwhile, the club have signed Crystal Palace defender David Woozley on a month's loan and taken his team mate, Jon Boardman on trial.
Woozley, 21, has made over 25 appearances for The Eagles and also spent time on-loan at Bournemouth, while 18-year-old defender Boardman will train with the club for a week.
However, a permanent deal is unlikely as Palace have high hopes for the Reading-born defender, who is yet to make a first team appearance for The Eagles.
