HAMMERS TARGET DOUBLE SWOOP

WEST HAM UNITED are being linked with a surprise double swoop for Levski Sofia striker Georgi Ivanov and Parma playmaker Johan Micoud.

Reports are suggesting that The Hammers are close to sealing a deal for Bulgarian international Ivanov who is nicknamed 'Gonzo'.

The 25-year-old ace has been allowed to leave for the right price by Levski and has attracted the interest of Bolton Wanderers, Fulham and Ipswich Town.

The Upton Park outfit are reported to have agreed a fee in the region of £6.7 million for the highly-rated player and he is tipped to undergo a medical later this week before completing a move.

Hammers boss Glenn Roeder is keen to strengthen his squad as he admits that the current squad is one of the weakest in The Premiership.

Roeder still has money available from the sale of Frank Lampard to Chelsea having only spent £4 million to bring David James, Sebastien Schemmel and Laurent Courtois to the club over the summer.

Should Ivanov move to Upton Park he will join up with fellow countryman Svetoslav Todorav in East London.

A move for French international Micoud seems unlikely, even though the player is keen on a move away from Parma and the club are willing to offload him.

The talented midfielder, who has been forced to be train alone by Parma after a fall-out, has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Schalke 04 and Marseille and should he leave Ennio Tardini there is sure to be great interest in the former Bordeaux star.
