SERGI UNHAPPY AT COCO ACQUISITION

BARCELONA'S experienced left wing back Sergi Barjuan has expressed his disappointment at Camp Nou side for their decision to bring Milan defender Coco to the club.

Sergi, who is captain of the team, blamed the media for bringing Coco to Barca, stating it was they who persuaded the club's hierarchy a new player was needed.

"With press pressure Barcelona have signed a new player.  Barcelona had two men for each spot, except the left wing back.  The club has acted to do the best for the team."

Celta's Juanfran had been the firm favourite to move to Catalunya, and the signing of the Italian came as something of a surprise.

Sergio added: "I am disappointed but now I only think of having a good season with my team and to become the best Spanish wing back."

Other names linked included Juan Pablo Sorin (Cruzeiro), Jeremie Brechet (Lyon) and Diego Placente (Bayer Leverkusen) but Sergi was clear: "Coco, Juanfran... There have been a lot of names, but the deal I liked the most was Sergi. However, I don't think the arrival of the Italian will make me lose confidence."

Barcelona's general director Anton Parera called Sergi on Wednesday to calm him before Coco's arrival was reported: "I wasn't surprised. He called me because I am the skipper and to calm me," said Sergi.
