LATICS TARGET OSTER

SECOND DIVISION Oldham Athletic reported to have made an enquiry for Sunderland's out-of-favour winger John Oster.

The Latics are keen to bring the former Everton ace to Boundary Park on loan, with a view to a permanent move should he impress boss Andy Ritchie.

Ritchie is believed to have watched the Welsh international in action for the Sunderland reserves and he could only have gone away impressed by the player's performance as he scored twice in a 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Oster has struggled to establish himself at the North East club since his move from Goodison Park two years ago and he has been told he can leave after turning down a new deal.

Oldham will face stiff competition from Grimsby Town and Bradford City for the player's signature and Ritchie is waiting to hear from Sunderland about his approach.
