RAUL HOPES FOR NATIONAL SUCCESS
Despite being just 24, Raul has already won three league titles, two Supercopas and two Champions League after making his debut in 1994. Now, he is looking to win something with the national squad, with coach Jose Antonio Camacho
Raul said: "If we think we aren't going to achieve anything at the World Cup it would be better not to go. I dream of winning a title with the Spanish squad. We will attempt it at the World Cup but we will have to work hard to achieve it.
"We have to be humble but to play with ambition. After that if things have not gone good we can be proud of our effort."
Raul believes the Spanish squad miss 'something' to be at the same level as great squads such as Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany or Italy. But the forward added: "What we lack is to beat Austria on Saturday to be able to play in the World Cup.
"Everybody knows that during the last championships we have not performed well but the key is to win all the matches and if we are at a high level of form we can win whoever plays against us.
"It won't be an easy path but at the World Cup everything can occur."
Raul is confident that clubs success can help the national squad, with players taking on their good form onto the international arena.
Asked about the 9-0 victory against Austria two years ago, the Spanish ace said: "I think those kind of matches are unrepeatable. It was a great match but it won't be related to the match on Saturday."
Speaking about the criticism of Zinedine Zidane, Raul said: "Zidane is a great player and will succeed at Real Madrid because he has succeeded at every team he has played."
