NOUMA IS L'OM JOKER

LE CHAMPIONNAT'S legal committee ruled on Tuesday that Pascal Nouma did not join Marseille before Friday's midnight transfer deadline.

The Besiktas striker signed a three-year deal with L'OM last week, but the deal was thrown into doubt by the French authorities` decision.

However, Marseille have decided to use their one off 'joker' - which allows one new capture after the deadline - to secure the signing of Nouma.

This now means that Marseille will not be moving for Kaiserslautern's Youri Djorkaeff, something the player's brother and agent, Dennis, accepts.

"Since L'OM have used their joker, the transfer is off," said Dennis Djorkaeff.

"It is a pity because negotiations were at an advanced stage and Youri was ready to fulfil the financial sacrifices to return to France.

"I will now try to activate the contacts we had in England."
