DODDS REVEALS INTERNATIONAL RETIREMENT

SCOTLAND striker Billy Dodds has announced his retirement from international football.

The Rangers ace, who started the 2-0 midweek defeat to Belgium, told Scotland boss Craig Brown of his decision to quit the international scene after the game.

Dodds came to the decision after Wednesday night's defeat to Belgium all but ended their hopes of qualifying for next summer's World Cup finals.

Brown had hinted that he would be making an overhaul to the team for the final qualifier against Latvia in October by giving some of the young stars the chance to impress.

The 32-year-old ace won 24 caps for Scotland and scored seven goals for the national team in that time.

The news follows Celtic midfielder Paul Lambert's decision to end his own international career at the end of the current World Cup campaign.
