DECEMBER MOVE FOR LIVERANI?

FULHAM have been told that Fabio Liverani, a reported target for Jean Tigana, is staying with Perugia, at least until December.

The dynamic midfielder, the first black player to represent Italy, has been targeted by a number of clubs in Italy and England, but coach Serse Cosmi has assured the club's supporters that the 25-year-old will not be leaving before a replacement, probably Matias Donnet, has arrived.

"I am content to see again why he is a Perugia player," Cosmi commented on Liverani's return from international duty, "And will remain at least until December 1st.

"I have received assurances from the club that this is the case."

Juventus are favourites to win the chase for his services, and Fulham's reported bid could set the wheels in motion for a move.

The Umbrians have already set up a deal to bring a new midfielder to the club, as a possible future replacement for the former Viterbese star.

Donnet, who plays for Union in Argentina, is set to sign next week, although he will continue playing in Santa Fe until the end of the year, tying in with the time span of Liverani's probable exit.

Spanish sides Alaves and Osasuna have also shown an interest in the £1.8 million-rated attacking midfielder, but Perugia look to have won the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, Fulham striker Louis Saha has been handed the Barclaycard Player of the Month award, following his explosive start to life in the top flight.

"I am thrilled to have won this award," he said. "It is for my team as well as myself."
