SAINTS INTEREST IN ALLBACK CONFIRMED
MARCUS ALLBACK'S agent has confirmed to planetfootball.com that Southampton are one of two English teams interested in signing the striker.
Allback`s club, Heerenveen, had earlier played down speculation to planetfootball regarding Southampton.
But now Roger Ljung has revealed that there is interest from the South Coast club.
"What I can say is that there is interest in Marcus from a couple of English clubs. To say more than that would be wrong, but it is correct that Southampton are one of those," Ljung told planetfootball.
Former Swedish international Ljung confirmed that his client is interested in moving to the Premiership.
"Yes of course England is an ambition for him, but that would be subject to an agreement being reached with his club Heerenveen," added Ljung.
"He is very happy there at the moment and is doing very well, but things are possible if we can sort something out with Heerenveen.
"However, we do not know whether they are ready to sell or not."
Liverpool, Charlton and Tottenham were all linked to the Swede last year, but Saints are the first to show a real interest this season.
Allback will be well aware of the Saints as his room-mate at international level is Southampton's Anders Svensson.
