KENNA 'GUTTED' BY ROVERS RELEASE

BLACKBURN ROVERS full back Jeff Kenna has reacted with disappointment to news that he is to be released from the final year of his contract with the club.

The Republic of Ireland international has become surplus to requirements at Ewood Park and has been told that he can leave for nothing.

"I'm absolutely gutted," admitted Kenna - who joined the club towards the end of the 1994-95 Championship season.

The former Southampton star cost then-manager Kenny Dalglish £1.5 million, and came in as an understudy for Graeme Le Saux - but will now leave for nothing.

Kenna spent time at the end of the last campaign with Tranmere Rovers - playing 11 times for the Wirral-based club.
