BORO FIGHT SCHWARZER RED CARD
MIDDLESBROUGH have confirmed that they appealing against Mark Schwarzer's sending off aginst Newcastle United.
The Australian international was adjudged to have brought Laurent Robert in the area, but television replays seem to suggest that the Frenchman ran into Schwarzer.
Referee Graham Poll also thought that Schwarzer was last man, but it now looks as if both Curtis Fleming and Jonathan Greening would have covered in time.
"The manager has spoken with the referee with regard to Mark Schwarzer's dismissal and asked him if he would take another look at the video evidence," said Boro spokesman Dave Allan.
"He expressed the feeling that the penalty and sending off were sufficient punishment. We await the referee's response to that request."
