TWENTE SECURE VITAL AWAY WIN

FC TWENTE secured a crucial 2-1 victory at Polonia Warsaw and are now firm favourites to progress into the Uefa Cup Second Round.

Roland Kollman set the Dutch side on their way on the hour-mark, but Polonia drew level when Crystal Palace-bound midfielder Arkadiusz Bak (pictured) levelled with just 12 minutes left.

Then when a draw looked the most likely outcome, Arjan van der Laan grabbed a crucial second with just four minutes remaining to seal the win for Twente.

As expected, Utrecht eased past their Austrian opposition Grazer with an easy 3-0 win at the Nieuw Galgewaard.

Goals from Dave van den Bergh (21), Stefaan Tanghe (39) and Igor Glusevic (49) gave Utrecht the win.

Ajax secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ronnie Whelan's Apollon Limassol at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Swedish starlet Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the scoring for the Dutch giants after just four minutes and Greek striker Nikos Machlas ensured the win with a second goal in the 58th minute to make Ajax fim favourites to progress to the next round.
