VOLLER NAMES GERMAN SQUAD

GERMANY coach Rudi Voller has named his squad for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Finland next month.

Voller has recalled Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Bernd Schneider to the squad after a two-year absence from the international set-up, for the game on October 6.

Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann is missing from the squad through suspension as Germany try to bounce back from their humiliating 5-1 defeat to Engalnd at the start of the month.

Schneider is joined in the squad by his Bayer team-mate Carsten Ramelow as Voller as he promised keeps faith with the players that lost to England for the final qualifier.

Bayern Munich duo Thomas Linke and Alexander Zickler both miss out through injury, as do Borussia Dortmund defender Jorg Heinrich and star pair Jens Jeremies and Mehmet Scholl.

Germany are currently second in Group Nine behind England and it looks like they will have to make do with a play-off place to qualify for next summer's World Cup finals as England are expected to beat Greece and finish as group winners.
