GORAM RUES UNITED SWITCH

EXCLUSIVE
ANDY GORAM now rues his decision to sign for Manchester United at the tail-end of last season, according to agent Ken Moyes - but, at the time, the former Scotland international could not resist the temptation of playing for the biggest club in the world.

Moyes, speaking exclusively to planetfootball, stated that, in retrospect, Goram did not get the playing time to prove to Red Devils fans he could be an important part of the squad, but insisted that he would have, if given the chance.

"I think, in hindsight, he wouldn't go now, if he could have seen how it was going to be," Moyes told planetfootball.

"But, at the time, Manchester United had two goalkeepers injured and they were looking for someone for the Champions League.

"As soon as Andy signed, both goalkeepers were off the treatment table!

"At the end of the day, if nothing else - never mind the financial benefits of going to Manchester United - he can say that he's played for probably the biggest team in the world.

"To be fair, he never got a decent chance, he didn't play enough, which is a shame because he is good.

"When you think about it, Fabien Barthez is probably one of the best goalkeepers in the world and Andy is a similar type to him.

"He isn't the biggest, he relies on his shot-stopping ability. Barthez is fantastic outfield and so is Andy: His kicking is fantastic."

Goram is currently on a short-term deal with Coventry City, but interest from Scottish sides may hurry any decision about his future.
