DEIN HOLDS VIEIRA TALKS WITH JUVE

REPORTS in France are again claiming that Juventus have made recent contact with Arsenal about midfielder Patrick Vieira.

French daily L'Equipe report that Arsenal vice chairman David Dein met with his Juventus counterpart Roberto Bettega on his boat in the Cote d' Azur last week to discuss the transfer.

Vieira had been linked with Juventus all summer, but The Gunners persuaded their French ace to continue his Highbury career, however the latest deal that is being discussed has included Dutch maestro Edgar Davids in a potential swap deal.

It is believed that Juventus have made a concrete offer of Davids plus £13.2 million (41.2 billion lira), and had given Vieira the option of a five-year deal worth a staggering £19.8 million (61.9 billion lira), which equates to £76,000 per-week.

Vieira, though, would not be drawn on the latest speculation saying: "For the moment, I met no one, but I will do in time.

"At that time, I will take my decision, all alone - myself.

"Money won't be the major parameter in my decision.

"Contrary to what some people said, I didn't close the door on any transfer.

"But now, I have an important season to play with the Gunners."
