THURAM: WE MUST FORGET ABOUT ZIDANE
Juventus threw away a three-goal lead to miss out on a victory in the Turin derby, and Thuram admits that the loss of idol Zidane to Real Madrid in the summer is still having an effect on the side.
"I think that the team is still probably missing the influence of Zinedine Zidane," said Thuram - who was brought to the club with Gianluigi Buffon from Parma.
"For five years now every player was used to giving the ball to Zizou and waiting for his ideas.
"Now it's different, we play in a different manner and everybody needs to make a contribution.
"I must admit that I was the guilty party against Torino," added the World and European champion.
"I started to move down the pitch without concentrating in the second-half, and I made mistakes.
"When a team leads 3-0, if it is a great side it cannot give the opponents any route back into the game.
"This probably shows that we are some way from being great.
"It is not possible to relax, even when you have a three-goal lead. A player must be able to play at his best for 90 minutes.
"We thought we could keep hold of our lead by controlling the ball in the second-half, but it is evident that we were too slow, and we paid for that."
