MATT BOUND FOR R&D?

MATTHEW Bound did not travel to Southend with the rest of the Swansea squad prompting speculation that he may be poised to leave Vetch Field.

The big defender, one of the seven players 'sacked' by new chairman Tony Petty, insists he only remained at home due to illness but reports suggest Rushden and Diamonds are ready to swoop for the 28-year-old.

Bound was unaware of the interest from Swansea's Division Three rivals and indicated he would only accept a loan switch. 

"I have heard the rumours that they are interested, but nothing has been confirmed," stated the City star.

"Things have gone a bit sour at Swansea after Wednesday but if I did go anywhere it would only be on loan.

"I am just trying to carry on as usual and the only reason why I'm not going to Southend is because I had an illness overnight. I missed training yesterday because of a misunderstanding."
