LEEDS' SETH BID ACCEPTED
The Rams, who have snapped up Luciano Zavagno and Pierre Ducrocq, agreed to an initial £7 million payment from the Premiership leaders, with the additional £2 million to be paid after a set amount of appearances.
The former Crewe Alexandra man, who can play anywhere down the left flank, has previously attracted attention from Middlesbrough and Rangers.
Having now been given permission to speak to Leeds, it is expected the 22-year-old will put pen-to-paper at Elland Road.
"Colin Todd is determined to change things around and already he has started by bringing in two new signings who should be training with us tomorrow," confirmed Derby chief executive Keith Loring.
"He intends to add further signings to the squad and hopes to have more players in by the weekend."
Johnson perfectly fits David O'Leary's prototype of new signings at Leeds, as he is young and British with the desire and ability to achieve a great deal in the game.
The excellent start to the campaign has not weakened the Irishman's resolve to bring in reinforcements to his squad, and the deal could be wrapped up by the weekend.
Although signing a fresh three-year contract in the summer, there was always the likelihood that the midfielder would be allowed to leave the club once The Rams decided they had a good enough return on their £3 million investment from Crewe.
