HYYPIA TO FACE RED DEVILS?

LIVERPOOL'S defensive stalwart Sami Hyypia could be fit in time for Sunday's showdown with Manchester United if his hamstring problem clears up as expected.

The giant Finn limped out of the recent Champions Leage encounter with Boavista and The Reds' hierarchy feared a six week lay-off.

However, interim coach Phil Thompson is optimistic the defensive king-pin will be ready for next weekend's game with the Premiership champions.

"I think the midweek Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund might just be too early for him," confirmed Thompson.

"But although these type of injuries can take weeks to heal, we're very optimistic Sami will be ready within 10 days."
