HERRLICH EXTENDS DORTMUND STAY
The 30-year-old striker was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2000 but has bravely fought the illness and returned against all the odds to don the Dortmund jersey once again.
"We are convinced that he can once again show what he is capable of," said sporting director Michael Zorc.
"Besides that he is a role-model for the club.
"Heiko wanted to plan his career long-term and end his playing days at Dortmund."
Herrlich was delighted with the new deal and expressed his fondness for The Schwarz-Gelben, thanking them for sticking by him.
"I will always by grateful for their support. Dortmund is for me the first address in football," added the forward.
