BOATENG GETS DUTCH CALL-UP

GEORGE BOATENG has been rewarded for an impressive start to the season with a place in Holland's squad for the friendly with Denmark.

Louis van Gaal has called up the former Under-21 international after some sterling performances for Aston Villa, in front of representatives from the Dutch coaching team.

With John Gregory's side topping the Premiership table last week, the dynamic former Coventry City man has been one of their key performers.

AZ Alkmaar keeper Oscar Moens is also drafted in, as a replacement for Liverpool's out-of-favour Sander Westerveld who, as expected, was axed by van Gaal.

Full squad:

Edwin van der Sar (Fulham), Oscar Moens (AZ Alkmaar); Mario Melchiot (Chelsea), Michael Reiziger (Barcelona), Frank de Boer (Barcelona), Jaap Stam (Lazio), Denny Landzaat (Willem II); George Boateng (Aston Villa), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Arsenal), Ronald de Boer (Rangers), Clarence Seedorf (Internazionale), Edgar Davids (Juventus), Patrick Kluivert (Barcelona), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United), Boudewijn Zenden (Chelsea), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Chelsea), Pierre van Hooijdonk (Feyenoord), Roy Makaay (Deportivo La Coruna).
