LOCKWOOD: "FANS GOT TOMMY THE SACK"
Taylor led The O's to the This Division play-off final last season, the second time during his five year spell, but it ended in heartbreak as Orient crashed to a 4-2 defeat against Blackpool.
An indifferent start to the new campaign led to supporters calling for his head from an early stage and Lockwood has warned new boss Paul Brush the same could happen to him unless he guides the East London club out of Division Three soon.
"Tommy had taken us to the play-offs twice but the fans weren't taking any prisoners this year," Lockwood said.
"As soon as we lost a game they were calling for him to go. I suppose they thought after five years trying to get out of this division it was time for a new face.
"I spoke to him after he resigned and he said that once the booing started the players were going into their shells and the only way to stop that was for him to go.
"Managers don't last long nowadays and five years is a hell of a long time. I expect they will be calling for Brushy to get the sack after five years too."
Taylor left Brisbane Road at the beginning of October and almost immediately took up a role with Third Division rivals Darlington.
Meanwhile, Lockwood is back in training following the horrific injury he suffered at the beginning of the season.
Lockwood ruptured his spleen in a clash at York City, but it emerged days later that he could have died had he not gone for further tests on his return to London.
He has since undergone an operation on his spleen and is hoping to make a first team return before Christmas.
