PERUGIA CHASE JAPANESE STAR

PERUGIA are being linked with a move for Japanese international striker Atasushi Yanagisawa.

The Kashima Antlers ace starred for Japan in their international friendly against Italy scoring the goal in their 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

The player's performance throughout the game has alerted Perugia's to his talent and Yanagisawa has admitted he would be keen to play in Serie A.

"To play in Italy is a dream of every player in my country," said Yanagisawa.

Perugia have good contacts in Japan having signed Japanese superstar Hidetoshi Nakata from Bellmare Hiratsuka in 1998 and they are believed to have already enquired about Yanagisawa.

The Italian outfit are thought to have agreed a loan for the striker from January when the transfer window in Serie A reopens.

Meanwhile, Perugia defender Traianos Dellas has been linked with moves to both Milan and Roma.

The Greek ace is out-of-contract at the end of the season and a number of clubs are ready to move to sign him.

The former Sheffield United star has admitted he is happy to stay at Renato Curi if he can agree a new deal.
