CARDIFF BURIED BY BURY

BURY went some way to easing their relegation fears with a fine 3-0 win over Cardiff, a result that takes The Shakers off the foot of the Division Two table.

The Bluebirds came into the game with high hopes, having won their three previous away games, but they were brought back down to earth with a bump at a rainy Gigg Lane.

The opener came on 10 minutes, and it was a freak goal as Jason Jarrett (pictured) lofted the ball into the area following a corner and all Cardiff`s players inexplicably stood and watched the ball go into the net.

The goal stunned Cardiff into action and they dominated play for the rest of the half, with Bury keeper Paddy Kenny performing heroics to keep his side in front.

Kenny denied Paul Brayson a leveller when he tipped his powerful shot onto the post. Danny Gabbidon then went on a mazy run, but was denied by a fine Kenny save.

Bury, though, preserved their lead and stunned Cardiff at the start of the second-half when Gareth Seddon converted a low cross to double their advantage.

Cardiff`s evening was summed up when Leo Fortune West shot straight at Kenny from close-range when it looked easier to score.

Bury sealed the points on 80 minutes when David Borley beat his marker before thumping a shot past Neil Alexander to put some gloss on the result.
