DE BOER CALLS FOR ADVOCAAT

DUTCH international Frank De Boer has said that he hopes Rangers boss Dick Advocaat will take charge of Holland's national side, despite Ibrox chairman David Murray insisting that he wants Advocaat to stay.

The Barcelona defender has said that he has held talks with Van Gaal and is certain that he will be leaving his post, and feels the Rangers boss is the perfect man for the job.

"I have had important talks with van Gaal - and although I won't go into detail I admit I have tried to convince him to carry on," said De Boer.

"But I don't believe there is much chance of that. I'd say he's 70 per cent certain to quit - and that's me being conservative.

"As soon as it is announced that he is quitting I'd like Dick Advocaat to take over. He is a top-class coach, and I've always enjoyed working with him. He has done this job before and knows what is required.

"I expect all the players to welcome his arrival. I know my brother likes him, and Dick has the respect of the players."

Advocaat has not said if he will be leaving Ibrox next summer when his contract expires, and this has led to constant speculation of him returning to the job he held in the early nineties.

Gers chairman David Murray, however, says that he is more than satisfied with Advocaat, and hoeps he will stay on.

"I am totally satisfied with the way things are progressing with regard to Dick's position. The only people who seem to be getting excited about this are the press," said Murray.

"Our priority is to go on winning and that's what we will concentrate on doing."

De Boer is confident that Advocaat will decide to leave Glasgow when his contract is finished.

"After three-and-a-half-years I think he might want to leave Rangers, and his contract ends in the summer. It would be great for Dutch football if we could get him back here."
