WRIGHT ERROR GIVES TOTTENHAM LATE POINT

A GOALKEEPING error in the last minute from Arsenal's Richard Wright gifted Tottenham a point at White Hart Lane as Sol Campbell's return ended in a 1-1 draw, whilst Manchester United recorded a comfortable 2-0 home win over Leicester City.

The Gunners looked set to take all three points when with just nine minutes remaining Robert Pires picked up the ball 25 yards out, after a good run from Ray Parlour, and hit a brilliant shot past Neil Sullivan in the home goal.

A plethora of incidents in front of either goal then followed in the last five minutes as both sides could have easily scored, but it was Spurs who grabbed the equaliser with just seconds left. Tottenham attacked down the right with Sergei Rebrov and Gustavo Poyet met his cross with a volley on the edge of area and although his shot was on target, England's Wright would have been unbelievably disappointed to have let the Uruguayan's shot slip through his hands.

The point was a more than fair result and Spurs should really have scored long before the final minute as lacklustre Arsenal will need to improve if they want to maintain their championship challenge, although Campbell's performance  - albeit all the hostility the home fans could throw at him - was outstanding.

Manchester United climbed above Arsenal into fourth place in The Premiership with their win at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson again changed his starting line-up, meaning it was a different team for the 66th consecutive game. But the starting XI for United performed well and were more than a match for Leicester.

The Red Devils welcomed back Roy Keane into midfield and he instigated the first goal as he played the ball wide to David Beckham, whose trademark cross was met by Dutch ace Ruud van Nistelrooy, who headed past Ian Walker.

However, just minutes later Leicester should have been level when they awarded a penalty when Trevor Benjamin was first to Jordan Stewart's cross, but French defender Laurent Blanc felled the former Cambridge man. But Turkish international Muzzy Izzet failed to beat Fabien Barthez in the home goal as the bald shot-stopper saved the spot-kick - Izzet's second penalty miss of the season.

Yorke then scored just after half time when Gary Neville crossed into the area to leave the Trinidad and Tobagan international to head his first Premiership goal of the season and give United all three points.

Aston Villa missed an opportunity to go back to the top of the table as they drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough at Villa Park. There was only two real chances in the whole of the game - one for each team. Villa's came after 20 minutes when Juan Pablo Angel turned Ugo Ehiogu before blasting against the bar. Boro's opportunity came from a corner which Hassan Kachloul almost turned past Peter Schmeichel, but both were relieved to see the ball come back off the bar and bounce to safety.

Newcastle's dismal run in London continued as they failed to win for the 27th time of asking in the Capital, after a 3-1 defeat to Fulham.

Former Newcastle loan-signing Louis Saha opened the scoring after 20 minutes when he curled home wonderfully from the edge of the area and then less than ten minutes later John Collins and Steed Malbranque combined to send French midfielder Sylvain Legwinski in for his second in successive games as he fired underneath Shay Given.

Gary Speed pulled one back after 65 minutes when he headed home an Aaron Hughes cross, for Newcastle's 500th Premiership goal, but then Fulham killed the game off with a third. Andy Melville flicked on a Malbranque corner and Barry Hayles was left unmarked at the back post to head home and condemn Newcastle to their 100th Premiership defeat.

Newcastle did have a fantastic chance to come back into the game with just ten minutes left when former Magpie Alain Goma was adjudged to have fouled Laurent Robert. Alan Shearer took the kick and Edwin van der Saar saved well onto the post, but just when the former England captain looked set to put the rebound into the empty net, Goma appeared to foul him while putting the ball behind - but referee Eddie Wolstenholme gave a corner amid mass Newcastle protests.

Fulham have now climbed into the top half of the table, while Newcastle drop to sixth.

Derby County won only their second game of the season as they secured a vital 1-0 win over relegation rivals Southampton, who have replaced The Rams at the foot of the table.

Derby's winner came after just 25 minutes in bizarre circumstances. French defender Youl Mawene claimed the goal after a scramble which saw the ball sky into the air and bounce down and over the line, while Southampton keeper Paul Jones was left ball watching.
