BLUEBIRDS TAKE DEAN IN A FLASH
The 28-year-old has just returned to full fitness, but he is not believed to be in the thinking of Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren.
"I am in Wales for the next few weeks and we'll see how things go," said Gordon.
"The second division is a big step back for me, but Cardiff City are a club with bags of potential."
Gordon is out-of-contract in the summer and it looks highly unlikely that he will be offered a new contract to stay at The Riverside.
The former England Under-21 international has seen loan signing Franck Queudrue come into the side in his absence and make the spot his own, whilst left sided youngsters David Murphy and Stewart Downing are now pushing for places in the first team squad, so McClaren does have adequate cover.
Gordon's spell at Ninian Park could be made into a £500,000 permanent swoop at the end of the month if he proves to be a success in South Wales.
Boro signed Gordon from Crystal Palace in a £900,000 deal in 1998, but after a brilliant first season at wing back, injuries curtailed his progression and for the same reason he has been unable to show McClaren what he is capable of.
The Teessiders themselves are looking to lighten their wage bill and McClaren is believed to have been told by the Boro hierarchy that he must reduce the massive out-goings, before he can bring any more players into the club.
Curtis Fleming and Steve Vickers are already on loan at Birmingham, with permanent deals in the offing for both, while Mark Summerbell and Steve Baker are training with Stockport and Scarborough respectively, after being told they were surplus to requirements.
Brian Deane is also on his way out, although his protracted move to Leicester is taking time to finalise, while Joseph-Desire Job and Hamilton Ricard are also very much on the fringes of the first team picture and moves to the continent look the most likely options.
