DI VAIO HAPPY DESPITE MOVE TALK
The 25-year-old has been a revelation at Ennio Tardini, despite the fact that the team is struggling in Serie A (they currently lie in 14th place), and Italian reports claim both Barca and United have an interest in his services.
As he is under contract until 2004, there seems little prospect that Di Vaio will leave during the winter transfer window, and Parma's tifosi will be delighted as he has netted five goals in ten games this season, following up last term's tally of 15 in 27.
"I think only about Parma and no other club," insisted the former Lazio striker. "We are a great group and we can work very well.
"We agree with (coach Daniel) Passarella, even if we have a lot of work to do. But, as is shown in the league table, we haven't so much time."
Providing Parma can climb the table, there is much for Di Vaio to look forward to, particularly with a possible World Cup place with The Azzurri on the horizon.
"The World Cup for me is a dream," he smiled. "If I play in that competition, it will be thanks to Parma."
The Italian transfer gossip is gathering pace ahead of the next window, with Juventus the latest club to be credited with an interest in Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron.
There has already been much talk about a possible return to Lazio but it is now being claimed the Turin giants will offer Sir Alex Ferguson the choice of either Edgar Davids or Pavel Nedved in part-exchange for his record signing.
Although his form has been disappointing of late, there seems little prospect that Ferguson will want to do business with any bidders for Veron.
