BOLTON SWOOP FOR BORDEAUX STARLET
PLANETFOOTBALL can reveal that Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Bordeaux's young goalkeeper Jeremy Bon, much to the annoyance of Girondins youth director Guy Hillion.
Bolton denied that they had any interest in Bon last month, but now the 17-year-old shot-stopper has finally put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract with Sam Allardyce's side.
The starlet has signed a three-year deal, worth an estimated £3,000 per-month.
"We are just awaiting international clearance so that we can rubber-stamp the deal for him," A Bolton spokesman told planetfootball.com.
Bon joined Bolton two weeks ago for a trial, but after just a few days the Premiership outfit decided that they wanted the youngster on a permanent basis.
"At the end of two days, the trainers announced to me that they wanted to keep me," said Bon, who also revealed it was a dream come true to sign for Bolton.
"For me, it is something I have dreamed of since I was a boy."
Bon claims that Bolton's direct style of play suits him.
"Here, the play is appropriate to me it suits me perfectly.
"It is very physical, with long balls forwards. I touch the ball more which suits me.
"I will integrate myself gradually. I will start to speak English and that will help me understand when someone talks to me."
The youngster is also happy to be third choice and does not expect to make an immediate impact.
"I came to be a third choice. I am not in a hurry. I will work on it when I'm here."
Bolton's capture of Bon is just the latest in a long list of young French talent that has crossed the channel as British sides take advantage of the youth policy in Le Championnat.
But Bordeaux's head of youth, Guy Hillion, is not happy about losing Bon.
"This transfer is just one of those things that you cannot understand," said Hillion.
"Even though Jeremy was not in our main thoughts and his true value to us was either third or fourth choice, we had let him know that he was still very much wanted at the club.
"We wanted to keep him an on, but he found another club."
Hillion criticised the approach of English clubs.
"You know that the English buy all the young players in France that they can.
"We cannot prevent it, we are just surprised, because the French teachers do not know anymore about football than anyone else. I do not believe it.
"The English do not seem to have what it takes at their own clubs, they buy overall.
"They do not think about sentiment, and I fear Jeremy will not be returning to France for some time."
